Friends Make All the Difference

A letter from the Board President:

When I walk or drive by the Judy Black Memorial Park and Gardens in the center of Washington Depot, I smile.  In place of an abandoned gas station, I see beautiful gardens and grass and a renovated garage — and often an OPEN sign that announces an art exhibit or a play reading or a musical performance.  And sometimes I see the large screen set up for Outdoor Movie Nights held on First Friday’s, and look forward to picnicking on the lawn and enjoying a classic film.  And for five months of Saturday mornings, I see the tents of our local farmers and producers at the farmers market, and know I will not only be able to buy fresh produce but also catch up with friends and neighbors.  Around the holidays, I see children’s craft activities, fire pits for s’mores,  and other entertainment.  My fellow board members and I feel thankful to those who a few years ago  had a vision of something better: a gathering place in the middle of  Washington that would invite neighbors and friends to relax, learn, play, share and celebrate all that our community has to offer.

When you pass by or visit the Judy Black Memorial Park and Gardens, do you smile too?  Did you like what you see? Do you enjoy our programs and activities?  Do you want to see more?  The Washington Park Foundation,  a nonprofit organization that manages the park, is committed to maintaining the space for all neighbors to enjoy, and to bringing programs and activities that offer something for everyone. But we can’t do it without your help.

What happens at the park depends on community support!

Will you join your neighbors and become a Friend of the Park? Your 2019 tax-deductible gift today will allow us to continue to offer  programs and events you will enjoy for the rest of 2019 and into next year.

Become a Friend of the Park by making your gift today by visiting our website and clicking on the “Donate To The Park” link.  And please take the opportunity to let us know what you’d like to see at the park!
